Taylor Editing Service
Diane Taylor will read your manuscripts with a fresh eye. Above all, she looks for clarity of message, and the obstacles that impede that clarity. These include: lack of detail, verbiage, wrong word, redundancies, inaccuracies, grammatical errors, jargon, boredom, character inconsistencies, plot flaws, and more. If it’s working, or if it isn’t, she will let you know.
As the author of a book and many articles in magazines from Cruising World to Canadian Yachting to the Journal of Palliative Care, Diane knows how crucial it is to submit work that is already in the the best possible shape. She is honoured to collaborate with writers on the editing of their work.
One of her clients has written the following after her 250-page manuscript was edited by Diane:
“What do you want from an editor? You want someone who can read – really read: for overall meaning, character and plot development, credible dialogue, as well as for accurate word usage, correct spelling and proper grammar. Diane provided all of that and more with the thorough reading and editing she gave my manuscript.” – Donna Wootton, author of Leaving Paradise, a novel set in Toronto and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
In addition to editing books, Diane also edits a newsletter for a naturopathic veterinarian in Newmarket.
Diane has studied editing with Kathryn Dean who teaches editing at Ryerson University, and with Gwynn Sheltema who gives a workshop on editing across Canada.
